American Revolution – And He Didn’t Mean Chevy…
All it takes is a ride on public transportation to discover how crazy individuals can be.
On my way home last night, I eavesdropped on a bizarre conversation. My curiosity was piqued when a girl had complimented a boy on his flag tattoo. A 15-year-old boy with a flag tattoo? Interesting. I wanted to know if it was of Old Glory. The kid was behind me so I couldn't see for myself. Instead, I listened to try and pick up some verbal clues. I didn't find a definitive hint, but I drew the conclusion the tattoo was the red Che flag.
As their conversation progressed, the boy spoke of his personal vision… He considers himself a Revolutionist. As such, he predicts an American Revolution in the near future. But, he thinks the only way to bring about the revolution is to nationally unite gangs as the militants for the cause. The boy talked about what gang he wanted to join. Once in, he would work on uniting. He felt it unfortunate, though, the lives of regular people would be lost. For clarification, regular people – by his definition – were individuals who were raised in capitalism, don't know any better, and aren't "intelligent enough" to understand.
All I could picture were a bunch of hoodlums sitting around the campfire, wearing bandanas, sideway hats, and jeans hung down around their kneecaps holding hands – masculine, of course – while singing a rap version of "Kumbaya."
To think the future lies in the hands of kids like this…
